Owl Pendant/Brooch. Summer 2012

Nacho made this beautiful piece as part of a jewelry series on owls. The silver is 950 purity and the piece functions as both a pendant and a brooch. Each feather in the tail  and body of the owl is hinged in the back which gives it great movement. The owl is holding a "branch" in its talons which is actually a piece of coral. The head and top wings of the owl is given form and texture by using the technique of repousse and chasing. They are hollow which allows the piece to be much lighter than it would be if it were made in the lost waxing technique.  The feathers are all hand hammered individually which allows the wearer to see the true hand of the artist. Once again Nacho does not dissapoint -he has such an eye for detail !

Peacock Pendant and Brooch

Nacho made this beautiful piece as part of a jewelry series on peacocks. The tail feathers are comprised of thirteen round lapis cabachons and nine peridot cabachons which all sit in textured bezels. The stones give it great color! The silver is 950 purity and the piece functions as both a pendant and a brooch. Each feather in the tail is hinged in the back which gives it great movement. The body of the peacock is given form and texture by using the technique of repousse and chasing. This also allows the piece to be much lighter than it would be if it were made in the lost waxing technique. Once again the Master does not dissapoint -he has such an eye for detail and truly amazing craftsmanship!
